The Principal Policy Adviser, Programs and Policy provides support to the Director and Leaders within the Condition for Learning Directorate through provision of high-level advice, issue analysis, policy development and research.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Provide accurate and high-quality advice to key stakeholders about legislation, administrative instructions, human resources, financial matters, and other documentation relevant to the department and directorate.
- Provide high level of policy analyses and research, and preparation of presentation, briefings, and reports.
- Identification and analysis of state, national and international policy issues, trends, research, and opportunities impacting on the department's business and the programs lead by the directorate.
- Leadership practices that result in the development and maintenance of an appropriately skilled workforce and effective systems capable of supporting high quality service provision within the Briefing unit.

**To be successful you will need**:

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent vocational experience and knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality, succinct submissions, policy documents, briefing, reports and replies to Ministerial and Chief Executive correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly effective manner and determine objectives, under broad agency direction, cope with high volumes of work and changing priorities, while handling a number of sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated high level ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, to internal and external stakeholders in a professional, confidential, and tactful manner, with proven skills in developing and maintaining networks and working with astuteness and discretion in a sensitive/political environment.

**Special Conditions**:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
