- Lead advanced research in designing, fabricating and testing neurotechnology and neurovascular implants to treat various neurological conditions.

**About the Role**

The Vascular Bionics Laboratory, led by Prof Opie, is seeking a research fellow experienced in brain neurotechnology to support the development of neurovascular implants and other neural prostheses. This role focuses on leading advanced research in the design and testing of these devices, assisting with grants, and contributing to high-impact publications, all within the broader mission to leverage neurotechnology advances for treating conditions like epilepsy, Parkinson’s, and depression.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Participant in the design and development of neurotechnology research independently and as leader of the research team
- Design and fabricate neurotechnology with a focus on clinically translatable products
- Conduct benchtop and preclinical testing of fabricated devices and coordinate manufacturing of clinically suitable technologies
- Assist with technological translation of the technology in preparation for future clinical trials

**Who We Are Looking For**

You will demonstrate a problem-solving mindset, effective analytical skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Highly organised, you can manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising effectively while excelling in written and verbal English communication, documentation, and presentation

You will also have:

- Masters or PhD or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise in Neuroscience, Biophysics, Biomedical, Electronics, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or related field
- Well experienced in the field of Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) and neurotechnology
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as an engineer or research scientist in a highly regulated environment
- Experience working in electrophysiology and/or neurophysiology
