**Your role**

The Advisings and Community Protection team provides legal advice and support to the Attorney General as First Law Officer in respect of his statutory and common law responsibilities, as well as other Ministers and the Executive in the Department of Communities and Justice. The team conducts litigation and advises on legislation so as to contribute to reducing reoffending, ensuring the safety and protection of the community, and maintaining public confidence in the criminal justice system.

As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing legal, clerical, and administrative support to a dynamic team of solicitors and other officers.

**What you ll do**

A paralegal in the Advisings and Community Protection team will:

- undertake legal research and make enquiries as directed by solicitors
- prepare routine and non-routine communications and documents such submissions, correspondence (such as, letters, memoranda, agenda, briefing notes and related documentation) for a variety of audiences in line with departmental approved style guidelines and policies/procedures; and
- assist in supporting the team as a whole to provide effective legal services and support to the Department.

**What we re looking for**

We re looking for someone with good communication skills and experience in providing legal, clerical, and administrative support.
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
