Indigenous Service Support Officer

Key responsibilities
The Indigenous Service Support Officer key responsibilities are:

- Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning and interventions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.
- Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans through designing and implementing intervention strategies, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government and non-government agencies).
- Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports and performance reporting
- Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold a driver's licence or be prepared to obtain a driver's licence if they do not. Officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work.
- This is designated as an Indigenous Identified role. Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Applicants must nominate (or provide written reference from) an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their knowledge, skills or experience to demonstrate cultural capabilities as required. This person may be a community member, supervisor, or work colleague.
- Travel away from centre: while the position is based in Toowoomba travel within the region for site visits and to other regional officers will be required in this role. This includes overnight stays.
