Research Fellow

A joint industry project with entX, based in Future Industries Institute at the Mawson Lakes campus
- Full-time, fixed term contract until 3 June 2025
- Commencement Salary: $104,838 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

**About the Role**

The Research Fellow will contribute to the research efforts of the Future Industries Institute (FII), that related with the development of beta-voltaic devices in partnership with entX through the Cooperative Research Centre-Project. The position will undertake research into the materials and manufacturing of novel beta-voltaic devices, and link UniSA with university and industry partners within the CRC-P.

**About entX**

entX is focused on the development and deployment of innovative green-energy technologies that use waste or unconventional resources to generate value. Our technologies are creating step changes in power provisions to industries including manufacturing, defence, space and the internet of things (IoT). Innovations captured within our clean energy projects further help to decarbonise heavy industry, contributing to global net-zero emission targets by 2050.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Undertake and complete activities outlined in the entX project titled “Development of the GenX Betavoltaic Battery Pilot Manufacturing Process”
- Conduct high-quality research projects, under limited supervision and in collaboration with industry and other stakeholders
- Design and perform experiments for studying the interaction of thin film materials with radioisotopes or simulated radiation
- In collaboration with the Research Professor, provide co-supervision and advice to postgraduate students, internship students and visiting students in the appointee’s area of expertise
- Take part in contract research and development for industry partners, including contributions to writing of proposals and reports and mentoring junior staff and students in technical work
- Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- A PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or similar, with relevant post PhD research experience
- Demonstrated skills and experience in energy device fabrication, such as photovoltaics or batteries
- Demonstrated experience in an industry context - working with industry on contract research and development
- A record of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations commensurate with opportunity
