About the Role

Seeking your next professional challenge? We have a rewarding opportunity based at our Aluminium Smelter in the beautiful coastal town of Portland, Victoria for a suitably experienced professional in the role of Senior Asset Integrity Engineer, working a Monday to Friday roster.

You will play an integral role in leading Portland's Asset Integrity program. A thorough knowledge of engineering principles and strategy is sought, in addition to providing accountability for the following:

  • Developing and documenting Portland Aluminium's Asset Integrity Equipment Management Strategies to support business processes.

  • Holding the responsibility of being the single point of accountability for ensuring Portland Aluminium assets are fit for purpose and aligned to the Smelter's 10 year strategic plan.

  • Identifying long term improvement opportunities with a focus on equipment reliability and the application of capital advice.

  • In conjunction with the site leadership group, conducting asset management and equipment maintenance reviews to ensure compliance against agreed operational and maintenance standards.

  • Identifying and detailing risk management strategies to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) through optimisation of equipment selection and improved equipment utilisation.

  • Assisting with the development of equipment budget requirements to meet the long-term site plan.

  • Keeping up to date with new technology and current best practices

What you can bring to the role

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering,

  • Previous experience in maintenance, reliability or plant engineering will be highly regarded, as will be experience in heavy process industries,

  • A demonstrated commitment to Environment, Health and Safety

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to connect, work with and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation,

  • Hands-on coaching and support in order facilitate well-adapted and consistent execution of the systems and engineering processes,

  • Motivation and a desire to learn new skills, and have a sound track record in pro-active problem solving.

  • Use of initiative and continuously improve business performance will be utilised in this diverse team environment

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia's total aluminium production in Portland.
