Overview

Join to apply for the Clinical Observer role at East Metropolitan Health Service.

This is a voluntary position for the 2026 Medical Observer-ship Programme intake at Royal Perth Hospital, as part of the Clinical Observership Program for 2026.

The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) initiative supports eligible International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who are not currently registered as medical practitioners to gain an orientation to the hospital and the Western Australian healthcare system.

Program details

The Clinical Observership Program is an unpaid opportunity, typically 3 months in duration (depending on individual knowledge and experience). It provides access to the hospital's clinical teaching and educational resources. Upon successful completion, and subject to availability, applicants may have the opportunity to progress to employment as a Resident Medical Officer with Royal Perth Bentley Group.

About the employer

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is Perth's inner-city tertiary adult hospital and part of the Royal Perth Bentley Group. It offers tertiary emergency medicine, mental health, complex and elective surgical care, and specialist medical services, and serves as a premier teaching hospital contributing to medical research and patient care.

Eligibility and selection
  • Open to International Medical Graduates who are not currently registered as medical practitioners.
  • Applicants should provide a detailed curriculum vitae (no more than 4 A4 pages) with names and contact details of two referees, and a statement addressing the selection criteria.
  • Referees should preferably be a current supervisor or manager.
  • Please see the attached Job Description Form for the selection criteria.
