About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Director (5-7 years) or Director (7-10 years) to join our Construction, Projects and Assets (CP&A) practice in Perth. This is a full-time role offering excellent career opportunities and professional development for your future progression within the firm.
The CP&A practice within FTI Consulting is a leading global provider of commercial management and dispute resolution services on complex projects across all construction, engineering and related industries. Drawing on years of combined experience on some of the world's most complex and mission-critical construction projects, FTI Consulting has a proven track record in providing solutions to help our clients reduce risk and to prevent, mitigate and resolve construction problems.
What You'll Do
- Advise contractors, subcontractors, lenders, developers, funders and lawyers on contractual, technical and commercial issues that relate to complex construction and engineering project.
- Help clients resolve commercial disputes by establishing a clear, commercial strategy, promoting early resolution.
- Where litigation or arbitration is unavoidable, you will assist as an integrated part of our clients' legal teams or with external legal counsel, providing support across the entire dispute life cycle, from research and analysis to arbitration, mediation or trial.
- Provide support to quantum and/or delay experts involved in the preparation of expert reports for the purpose of arbitration, litigation and/or adjudication.
- Provide support and assist senior members of the team involved in the preparation and defence of contractual claims on construction and engineering projects for tier 1 or tier 2 contractors.
- Review construction/engineering contracts and advise on relevant terms and conditions.
- Analysing complex project data including, for example, costs, labour hours and quantities etc.
- Quantity surveying duties, including cost management, commercial or contract management, and contract administration.
- Perth based, possibly with some interstate and/or international travel.

- Support obtaining professional accreditation, e.g. Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Engineer, Associate or Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or similar.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideally, you will have:
- Between 5 to 7 years (Associate Director level) or 7 to 10 years'+ (Director level) claims, commercial, contract administration, cost engineering, quantity surveying and/or disputes advisory related experience.
- A bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- Experience in the preparation of quantum expert reports for the purpose of either adjudication, litigation or arbitration.
- Experience in the preparation and negotiation of claims in a commercial/claims driven environment on construction/engineering projects.
- Experience in the quantification and costing and/or commercial management of construction works.
- A general understanding of forensic delay analysis techniques.
- Site-based construction/engineering experience.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- The ability to work on multiple client matters at one time with limited supervision.
- A strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism.
- Excellent MS Word and Excel skills.
- For this position, unrestricted working rights in Australia are required.
Candidates that don't have the necessary experience but have a great attitude and are keen to develop their career in a construction claims environment will be considered. Preference will, however, be given to candidates that have some demonstrable exposure to:
- Alternative Dispute Resolution; and/or
- Working on construction/engineering matters in arbitration or litigation.
