About the Building Commission NSWThe Building Commission NSW has been established to regulate and improve the building and construction industry, collaborating with consumers and industry to lift standards, capability, capacity and resilience to deliver quality housing and meet housing targets.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the next phase of the Building Commission within NSW.
Responsibilities- Lead, manage and undertake strategic, targeted and risk-based audit programs, including desktop reviews and on-site inspections, to detect and deter non-compliance and uplift quality and standards.
- Lead and manage complaints lodged against building contractors for defective work, including desktop reviews and on-site inspections, to detect major defects and non-compliance and uplift consumer confidence.
- Manage high-profile audits, investigations, complaints, reviews and policy issues; provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior officers for decision making.
- Develop and maintain a compliance-based risk assessment framework; analyse datasets and sector trends to minimise risk and maximise safety in the NSW home building industry.
- Set team priorities and allocate resources to ensure compliance activities are carried out efficiently and timely.
- Provide high-level specialised building expertise, reports and recommendations to inform decision making and meet organisational objectives.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve improved industry outcomes.
- Lead and drive team management, work planning, coaching and professional development to deliver priorities and a positive customer and employee experience.
- Maintain statistical data, records and timely reporting of activities undertaken.
- Advise senior management on significant issues, industry developments and strategic options for regulatory plans.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including key industry bodies.
- Remain aware of industry trends and best practices to deliver innovative solutions that optimise outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and related legislation, regulation, policies and practices.
- Practical experience in one or more areas of building regulation (builder/trade background; clerk of works; site supervision; technical dispute resolution).
