About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis, based in our Brisbane Head Office with ability to WFH up to 2 days a week once probationary period is complete. Reporting to the Payroll Team Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring payroll operations run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process end-to-end payroll for all employees, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
• Manage employee leave entitlements (annual, personal, and long service leave).
• Respond to payroll inquiries and provide guidance to employees and management.
• Assist with payroll reporting, including monthly and annual reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely payment of payroll taxes, superannuation, and other obligations.
• Work closely with the People & Culture team to maintain accurate employee records.
• Continuously monitor payroll processes and implement improvements for efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with taxation, superannuation, and Fair Work regulations.
• Process payroll calculations such as back-pay and terminations.
• Manage internal Fringe Benefits processes.
• Calculate and process complex payroll adjustments, including back pay and termination payouts, redundancy payments etc.
• Provide backup support to the payroll team as needed.

About You

We're looking for a Payroll Officer with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on payroll experience in a fast-paced environment, who brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills to the table. You'll need to be comfortable working in a complex payroll environment, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

A friendly demeanour, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Experience with Enterprise Agreements and Awards, a high level of proficiency in payroll software, Excel, and a solid understanding of Fair Work, Payroll, Tax, and Superannuation legislation in Australia are must-haves.

Beyond the technical skills, you're friendly, approachable, and customer focused. You enjoy working with people, can communicate clearly and empathetically, and keep your cool under pressure. You're the kind of person who thrives in a team environment but can also take initiative and work independently when needed.
