As the Procurement Governance, Process & Systems Lead, you will be the central coordinator for procurement governance and assurance across all spend exceeding $150K. You'll work closely with procurement and contract management teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strategic sourcing outcomes.


This role is pivotal in leading transformation initiatives that uplift procurement capability, streamline systems, and embed best practices across the organisation. Operating in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) environment, you'll bring clarity, structure, and innovation to NHVR's procurement landscape.


Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead the development and implementation of procurement frameworks, tools, and training
  • Deliver assurance checks and audits to maintain governance and identify risks
  • Act as a key escalation point for procurement-related governance and risk issues
  • Provide expert advice on legislative and policy compliance (e.g., Modern Slavery Act, ESG)
  • Drive transformation and innovation initiatives to improve procurement systems and processes
  • Support high-risk procurement activities and negotiations
  • Collaborate across teams to align procurement initiatives and uplift capability
  • Report on performance metrics and progress to senior leadership

About You


To be successful in this role you will possess

  • Minimum10 years' experiencein a procurement leadership role
  • Strong background in governance, systems implementation, and process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in complex and evolving environments
  • Deep understanding of government procurement policies and compliance frameworks
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Law or MCIPS accreditation (highly regarded)

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.


We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 1000 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
