The Gastroenterologist will provide clinical management and treatment of patients within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District under their care. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. To provide consultation and procedural services in Gastroenterology.

The Gastroenterology Department provides regular work in a department of 11 Staff Specialists with a high level of collegiality. The Department works closely with several other sub-specialties including upper GIT surgery and colorectal surgery, with regular departmental clinical meetings where clinical cases are presented for review radiology and histology, as well as being part of regular UGIT Oncology MDT.

Advanced Trainees expecting to receive Fellowship of the RACP within 6 months may be considered for this role.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Requirements
  • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current AHPRA Registration and Fellowship with Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP)
  • Valid NSW Drivers Licence
