We are seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Our College currently supports nearly 100 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through unique, specialised, and award-winning programs and opportunities. Suitable applicants will ideally be reliable and flexible as they provide essential support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their parents/guardians, teachers, staff, the College, and the community more broadly through the knowledge, understanding, and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture.

This role reports to the Heads of Student Services for day-to-day operations with line management resting with the Manager Corporate Services.

As a suitable applicant you will act as a liaison between the community and the College, applicants should ideally display excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The suitable applicants will assist in the development of an education program relevant to the educational and cultural needs of students and the vision of the College and support teachers to implement the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.

The AIEO will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to ensure their continued participation, engagement, and achievement at the College. Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to use software systems and applications are important to the position to ensure accurate and timely records are kept and maintained and are thus highly desirable traits.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
