The HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring awareness of and compliance with Nutreco's HSE standards and requirements in the area of Health, Safety, and Environment. He/she develops and manages operational HSE plans aimed at implementing, monitoring, and improving HSE policies and standards to minimize risks and enhance HSE performance for the organization. The HSE Manager manages, motivates, and assesses the performance of a small team of HSE Officers.

The HSE Manager ensures a connection between HSE and business operations, ensuring all operations are performed in full compliance with Nutreco and government HSE standards, and that incidents and accidents are prevented.

This role is a 2nd line HSE specialist position, typically at the OpCo level, reporting directly to the General Manager, emphasizing the importance of HSE to Nutreco's business. The role's level relates to the size and complexity of the entity, usually requiring a seasoned HSE expert.

Job Responsibilities:
  • HSE Policy, Plans & Standards: Develops and drafts HSE programs, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in HSE performance across all business processes.
  • Planning & Implementation: Formulates annual HSE plans, budgets, objectives, and goals; manages their execution after approval. Drives the development of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Risk Management, Inspections & Audits: Implements emergency and occupational safety measures, conducts risk assessments, inspections, audits, and investigations, and initiates corrective actions to ensure compliance and address deviations.
  • Training & Advice: Ensures all relevant HSE training programs are in place and conducted. Provides insights and advice on HSE developments through reports and analyses to facilitate informed management decisions.
  • Project Involvement: Participates in CAPEX and other projects to incorporate HSE standards throughout project phases and designs.
  • HSE Tools & Systems, Reporting & Analysis: Manages local HSE systems, analyzes KPIs and indicators, and reports on HSE performance and progress.
  • Incident Management: Oversees incident activities, leads investigations of serious incidents, and manages crises and incidents effectively.
  • Projects & People Management: Executes and participates in HSE improvement projects; manages and coaches teams, motivating staff and ensuring optimal deployment.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Communicates HSE policies effectively, builds stakeholder networks, and maintains engagement with relevant partners to promote HSE objectives.
