Overview

Principal Coastal Engineer at KBR, Inc. – Join our National Maritime Team to work on design and planning activities for large-scale multi-discipline maritime facilities across industries including defence, local government, state government, ports and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your coastal engineering experience across these industries and lead the technical delivery of new and interesting projects, supported by a range of other disciplines across KBR and partners.

This role will see you delivering everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While primarily technical, there are opportunities for leadership (project management and design management) and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).

Responsibilities / What you will do

  • Lead technical delivery for large maritime projects from concept through construction phase support.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines across KBR and partner teams.
  • Provide leadership in project management and design management where applicable.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and client positioning.
Who you are

Our Principal Coastal Engineers typically have more than 15 years of experience with the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, dredging)
  • Significant experience with coastal modelling software (desirable: DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE)
  • Significant experience with local governments, port clients and/or the Defence sector
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and guidelines
  • Actively driving innovation within the team and providing supervision, guidance and mentoring
  • Ability to project manage and/or design manage large maritime projects or teams within larger multidisciplinary projects
  • Ability to engage with clients, pursue opportunities and leverage connections to win work
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain chartership within agreed timeframe)
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance
