Title: Principal Coastal Engineer The Opportunity This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia.
Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved in the design and planning activities for large-scale multi-discipline maritime facilities across various industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals).
You will apply your existing experience to lead the technical delivery of innovative projects, supported by and collaborating with a range of disciplines within KBR and external partners.
While some projects are high-profile, such as the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine facility upgrades at HMAS Stirling, Perth, our team also works on large-scale clean energy projects (e.g., Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (e.g., Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), port infrastructure (e.g., Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and the remediation of public assets (e.g., Central Pier, Melbourne).
This role involves leveraging your coastal engineering expertise from concept design through to construction support.
It offers opportunities for leadership in project and design management, as well as business development activities like proposal writing and client engagement.
Who are you?Our Principal Coastal Engineers typically have over 15 years of experience with skills including: Design, evaluation, and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works, and marine structures (wharves, jetties, marinas, seawalls, dredging)Experience with coastal modelling software such as DELFT-3 D, SWAN, MIKE (desirable)Experience working with local governments, port authorities, or the Defence sector Knowledge of Australian design codes and guidelines Leadership in driving innovation, supervising, guiding, and mentoring less experienced team members Project or design management of large maritime projects or teams within multidisciplinary projects Client engagement, opportunity pursuit, and leveraging connections for business growth Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to achieve it within an agreed timeframe Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance If you don't meet every requirement but believe you can contribute, we encourage you to apply and discuss your potential with us.
