Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Coastal Engineer role at KBR, Inc.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing coastal engineering experience across these different industries and gain exposure to new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.

While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

This role will leverage your coastal engineering experience to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While primarily technical, opportunities for leadership (project management and design management) and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning) are available.

Responsibilities
  • Design, planning and delivery of large scale maritime facilities across multiple industries (defence, local government, state government, ports, sustainability).
  • Deliver concepts through to construction phase support.
  • Lead or support project management and design management activities.
  • Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation and client positioning.
Who you are

Our Senior Coastal Engineers typically have between 2 and 5 years experience with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, dredging).
  • Experience in learning coastal modelling software (desirable: DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE).
  • Experience working with local governments, port clients and/or the Defence sector.
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skills in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff to enhance skills and capability.
  • Ability to project manage and/or design manage small maritime projects.
  • Ability to engage with clients, pursue opportunities and win work.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain chartership within an agreed timeframe).
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance.

Don't meet every requirement? That's OK. We are growing our team with a range of diverse and varied professionals. If you don't meet the experience above but think you can contribute, we encourage you to apply and have a chat with us.
