Are you a seasoned criminal lawyer with leadership experience and a passion for growing a team and practice? We're looking for a dynamic Lead Lawyerto take charge of our Sunshine Office, lead a talented team, and drive strategic growth in one of our most important suburban locations.

About the Role

As the Lead Lawyer, you will be responsible for overseeing legal operations, mentoring a team of lawyers, and spearheading business development initiatives. This senior role is ideal for someone who thrives in leadership, is commercially astute, and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a growing suburban office. You'll drive office performance and support staff development; while managing you own caseload of summary and indictable criminal matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Sunshine office and its staff
• Drive office profitability and meet financial targets
• Mentor and support lawyers in delivering outstanding service
• Develop and maintain referral networks
• Represent the firm in professional networks, CPD events, and community engagements
• Manage a caseload of criminal law matters -preparing matters and appearing at court
• Oversee compliance with legal and internal policy requirements

What You Bring

• At least 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal law
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
• Strong ability to generate client work through networking and business development
• Excellent legal skills and advocacy in both summary and indictable matters
• High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to high ethical standards and client care
• Desire to take on a strategic leadership role
• LIV Specialist Accreditation (or intention to apply)

• Existing referral network in the western suburbs
• Experience supervising junior lawyers
• Strong interest in legal education or community engagement
• Ability to contribute to firm-wide initiatives and practice development
