Are you a seasoned criminal lawyer with leadership experience and a passion for growing a team and practice? We're looking for a dynamic Lead Lawyer to take charge of our Sunshine Office, lead a talented team, and drive strategic growth in one of our most important suburban locations.

About the Role

As the Sunshine Lead Lawyer, you will be responsible for overseeing legal operations, mentoring a team of lawyers, and spearheading business development initiatives. This senior role is ideal for someone who thrives in leadership, is commercially astute, and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a growing suburban office.

You'll drive office performance and support staff development; while managing you own caseload of summary and indictable criminal matters.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Sunshine office and its staff

Drive office profitability and meet financial targets

Mentor and support lawyers in delivering outstanding service

Develop and maintain referral networks

Represent the firm in professional networks, CPD events, and community engagements

Manage a caseload of criminal law matters -preparing matters and appearing at court

Oversee compliance with legal and internal policy requirements

What You Bring

At least 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal law

Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

Strong ability to generate client work through networking and business development

Excellent legal skills and advocacy in both summary and indictable matters

High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills

Commitment to high ethical standards and client care

Desire to take on a strategic leadership role

LIV Specialist Accreditation (or intention to apply)

Bonus Points For:

Existing referral network in the western suburbs

Experience supervising junior lawyers

Strong interest in legal education or community engagement

Ability to contribute to firm-wide initiatives and practice development
