The Home Assessor reports to the claims team and is responsible for assessing and reporting on damages, discussing and agreeing upon the best repair methods with our panel of home repairers, while ensuring customer service levels are of the highest standards.

Overview

The Home Assessor is often the first person on site following a home insurance claim. This role provides an opportunity to assist customers in their time of need and be the face of our claims team.

Key responsibilities
  • Attend clients' properties (physically or virtually) and accurately report on building damage to domestic insured properties, in line with policy coverage.
  • Provide accurate scopes of works for rectification works to be carried out on insurable events.
  • Support claims by reviewing expert reports, providing technical advice and recommendations on policy coverage to the claims team.
  • Submit reports and review SOWs and documentation in a timely manner (as per set SLAs).
  • Determine and advise on the overall best method of repair for the building.
  • Adhere to company values and high customer service expectations; conduct customer satisfaction checks related to building repairs.
  • Coordinate and manage projects on complex or large loss claims.
  • Achieve consistent adherence to key performance measures (KPIs).
  • Conduct virtual/desktop assessments and triage; comply with statutory, industry and company requirements.
  • Interstate travel may be required for CAT events.
Experience and qualifications
  • Experience in managing quality building work and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Strong understanding of building methodology.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate scopes of works.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution ability.
  • Experience in managing, coaching and appraising builders.
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with builders.
  • Insurance experience is preferred, but not essential.
