About the role:

The Inventory Manager plays a critical role in managing the inventory systems, processes, and operations for Toll's customer, and is responsible for maintaining inventory integrity, overseeing stock control, implementing best practices in inventory management, and coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure seamless supply chain operations.

Fundamentally, this role is critical in ensuring that inventory levels are accurately tracked, optimised, and aligned with the needs of the customer's operations.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement national inventory control processes and systems

  • Develop the inventory related KPI reports and coordinate the site, regional and national reporting and analysis

  • Ensuring each sites are performing regular cycle counts and stocktake as per schedule, reconcile discrepancies, and identify any inventory risks

  • Analyse inventory trends and patterns to forecast demand and optimize stock levels, ensuring critical supplies are available when needed

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory management processes, increase operational efficiency, and reduce costs

  • Implement industry best practices and lean principles to streamline inventory workflows, reduce waste, and ensure optimal storage conditions

  • Identify and address any issues related to inventory handling, storage, or distribution to improve the overall supply chain performance

  • Manage and lead the inventory team, providing direction, training, and support to ensure high performance, safety, and compliance with company standards

  • Support the customer from an inventory management perspective providing oversight to the Senior Manager Warehouse Optimisation to drive continuous improvement and ensure training programs are implemented and maintained in line with quality standards and expectations

  • Review, develop/update and implement effective process, systems, practices and policies at a strategic level related to inventory systems, processes, and operations

  • Perpetuate a positive, proactive, team-based culture with a focus on providing effective coaching and feedback

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in inventory management, ideally gained within large, warehousing, or logistics environments

  • Must be an Australian Citizen and eligible for (and maintain) an Australian AGSVA Security Clearance

  • Strong understanding of warehouse management system (preferably SAP) supply chain operations, and best practices in inventory control, including familiarity with RFID and barcoding technologies for inventory tracking

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations including item slotting and heatmap to support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Experience with stock forecasting, inventory replenishment, and inventory cycle counting processes

  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights

  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools, particularly SAP ERP

  • Adaptability and resilience with capability to handle dynamic project environments, adjust priorities as needed, and deliver high-quality results

  • Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications
