Account Development / Business Development

Account Development / Business Development role focused on identifying and engaging potential customers, managing relationships, and supporting sales strategies.

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and target potential new customers through effective research and utilizing prospecting tools, industry websites, events and other resources.
  • Respond and follow up on all leads with the goal of establishing CDA/MSA's and eventually turning leads into opportunities and customers.
  • Engage with potential new customers through cold calls, emails and other cold outreach campaigns.
  • Rigorously document communications and keep up to date the customer relationship management (CRM) database.
  • Promptly initiate Client Proposals and Amendments upon request from BD and operational team with a target 3-day TAT.
  • Refer to and update Salesforce CRM opportunities where applicable.
  • Identify and communicate new trends and technologies in the market that may impact sales strategies.
  • Assist Business Development Director in responding to customer needs as they arise.
  • Provide excellent customer service by following through with prompt solutions to all customer inquiries.
  • Be a proactive, contributing member of the Commercial and Business Development teams.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term territory business plans through in depth understanding of customer needs and the services we provide.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers through sound scientific expertise and business acumen.
  • Effectively work and communicate with internal teams; contribute to team and departmental initiatives outside of day-to-day selling in your territory.
Skills, Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required, post-graduate or MBA preferred.
  • Scientific background required with experience in bioanalysis (LC-MS/MS or immunoassay) strongly preferred.
  • A demonstrated track record of excellent communication skills in previous positions, both written and verbal (e.g. customer-facing positions including sales, marketing or project management).
  • Confident, friendly, proactive team player and relationship-builder (essential).
  • Life science sales or marketing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with a variety of sales concepts, practices, and procedures is an asset.
  • Desire and motivation to develop a strong understanding of the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors, and hunt for new opportunities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to perform all responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to work in a virtual and field-based environment.
  • Valid Driver's license required for this position; local & national travel required for this role.
