Salary: Level 3, $79,156 - $84,977 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)
This is a permanent full-time position commencing February 2025
The Strategy and Policy Division plays a vital role in shaping the future of public education by developing and driving systemic reform, initiatives and policies. It leads the Department's school accountability and review program, ensuring schools meet performance standards through evidence-based analysis of student, school, and system performance. Our Division oversees regulation of Non-Government Schools ensuring these institutions comply with established standards.
A key function of the Division is the oversight of intergovernmental commitments and monitoring of global and national educational reforms, using these insights to guide broad policy changes. By integrating policy development, accountability, and educational planning, the Strategy and Policy Division supports continuous improvement in education delivery across the system.
The collection and analysis of data, school and student statistical performance information, informs Department-wide planning, monitoring, and reporting.
In addition, the Division provides key ministerial services supporting education portfolios, including policy advice, reporting, and Departmental representation. Planning for the future delivery of public schooling in our communities to meet evolving educational needs including international education is a central role of the Division.
The Role
In this role, you will manage a wide range of administrative and operational tasks, including scheduling appointments, handling enquiries, and coordinating Ministerial responses and briefing documents. Your ability to maintain accurate data records, track Ministerial correspondence and Divisional work, and oversee travel and accommodation arrangements will be essential to supporting the Division's efficiency.
This role requires exceptional communication skills and initiative. You will liaise with staff and executive leaders across the Department and with other government agencies and Ministerial offices to facilitate the Executive Director's commitments as required. You will be expected to handle confidential enquiries with discretion and ensure timely and helpful responses. Financial administration responsibilities include managing the Executive Director's contingency budget, processing payments and regular reporting, and monitoring travel expenses.
You will work closely with the Principal Consultant to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the Office of the Executive Director, Strategy and Policy, with a focus on creating a proactive, welcoming and supportive team environment.
