Our Members

Our members include people working in television, radio, theatre and film, entertainment venues and recreation grounds, as journalists, actors, dancers, sportspeople, cartoonists and photographers, orchestral and opera performers, as well as people working in public relations, advertising, book publishing and website production.

Our Locations and Staffing

The MEAA national office is in Redfern in Sydney.

There are branch offices located in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.

The role works as a part of MEAA's administration team, which provides essential support to the organisation as it seeks to provide secure good jobs and equality at work for workers in the media and creative industries.

Key accountabilities:

This role reports to the Executive Officer and is accountable for the following:

Assisting with administering the management of the Sydney and Melbourne offices

Arranging staff travel and accommodation, travel agent liaison

Recruitment – placing advertisements, managing correspondence with applicants, coordinating interviews, ensuring smooth transition of new staff upon arrival

Arranging business cards for all MEAA staff. Ordering campaign related materials

Security – issuing keys / access codes for Sydney and Melbourne offices

Car fleet maintenance – service, repairs, cleaning, registration, petrol cards, and management of GoGet and Flexicar accounts

Management of Sydney and Melbourne tenants and strata maintenance

Management of conference room bookings and access to MEAA's self-test studio when required

Liaising with strata to ensure fire safety maintenance of Sydney office, arranging fire warden training

Coordination of WHS issues, including provision of health and safety induction to new staff and coordination of MEAA's Right of Entry permits, WHS permits

Assist in coordination and administration of events, eg, organising conferences, face to face meetings, preparing papers, taking minutes, liaising with committees

Assist in arranging online committee meetings including liaison, preparing papers and taking minutes. Ability to attend these meetings if scheduled in the evening

Key skills and attributes:

Advanced organisation and administrations skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, database and web-based applications

Experience with CRM systems desirable, but not essential

Excellent communication and people skills

Diary management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Able to juggle priorities

Commitment to trade union principles and workers' rights

Details

The position is available on a part-time permanent basis (0.6 FTE) with a competitive package dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include 13% employer contribution to superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave each year (pro-rata), 1 RDO every 4 weeks (pro-rata), plus an additional 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year. Salary sacrificing is available.
