About The Role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Engagement Coordinator, at our Marion Church location. Reporting to the Corps Officers, this is a permanent, part-time position offering 26 hours per week.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.

You will successfully
  • Oversee community connections in the foyer space during weekly opening hours ensuring the Missional Relational, Professional, Model of Engagement is actively evident, ensuring effective relationships are established with community members and site staff/volunteers.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and develop The Salvation Army Marion's existing and future community engagement programs: currently but not restricted to: Monday Coffee and Sweet Treat, Tuesday Cheese Toasties, Fresh Produce Friday and meal program in consultation with Corps Officers.
  • Identify community needs that fall within current service gaps and delivery objectives, work within TSA's mission, values and policies, and provide opportunity for spiritual engagement.
  • Work with the volunteer reception team and other Salvation Army onsite programs to manage community members needs/requests when presenting to reception.
  • Co-ordinate the receipt and provision of material aid.
  • In consultation with Corps Officers, ensure appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high-risk situations or hazards as needed.
You Will Have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)
  • Minimum diploma level qualifications in a relevant discipline (Community Services, Social Work or related discipline) or willingness to obtain/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in community engagement on behalf of a Christian Church or not-for-profit organisation will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and running community-based activities and working with individuals from vulnerable and culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience managing volunteers or employees.
  • A national police record check is required.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.
