Hamilton Island is seeking a proactive and dedicated Return to Work Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team, responsible for the leadership and execution of Hamilton Island Enterprises' injury management and workers compensation portfolio.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you'll support the health, wellbeing and recovery of our team members by coordinating injury management processes, overseeing return-to-work plans, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

Injury & Illness Management

  • Lead the return-to-work process for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses
  • Develop and manage suitable duties plans in consultation with WH&S, treating practitioners and department managers
  • Coordinate and monitor the entire injury management process including early intervention programs, rehabilitation processes, RTW plans and Workers Compensation claims from commencement to resolution

Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance

  • Liaise with healthcare providers, insurers, and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant injury management
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements relating to workers' compensation and injury management

Advisory and Strategic Support

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on injury prevention, early intervention strategies and claims management
  • Parter closely with HR Business Partners, Recruitment, Staff Accommodation, Activities, Learning & Development and WH&S to offer coordinated wellbeing support

Wellbeing and Employee Support

  • Manage Employee Assistant Programs (EAP) and Health Monitoring initiatives
  • Conduct welfare checks, departmental visits, and proactively identify areas requiring further action or support

About You

You're an experienced return-to-work professional who brings empathy, resilience and strong communication to everything you do. You're confident working with a range of stakeholders and have a proven ability to manage complex injury or illness cases with professionalism and care.

To be successful, you will need:

  • 3–5 years' experience in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety or Counselling (Essential)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with end-to-end claims and injury management (Essential)
  • Experience managing both work and non-work-related injuries or illnesses (Essential)
  • Return to Work Coordination Certificate for QLD and NSW (Desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage across all levels of our business
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • A high level of confidentiality, resilience and sound judgement
