About the opportunity

We are currently recruiting to fill multiple casual roles for the Communications Officer role within our State Operations Centre.

As a Communications Officer, you'll play a key role in a 24/7 operational environment, providing high-quality customer service to the people of NSW and our internal stakeholders. You'll be the first point of contact for enquiries and requests for assistance, using a range of communication systems to log, update, and manage information in real time.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be available to complete the initial training which consists of a 2-week full time course followed by 4 x 12.5 hour shifts scheduled within the following 2 week period. The training includes two mandatory assessments, is fully paid and will commence on Monday 27 October 2025 at the NSW SES State Headquarters in Wollongong.
  • Have excellent computer skills including the ability to touch type (with speed and accuracy) and be able to demonstrate competence with Windows based computer applications.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team in a time critical environment and high stress environment.
  • Have the ability to think clearly, logically and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Possess organisational skills including efficient time management, an ability to prioritise tasks and work within defined procedures.
