We're looking for an experienced Design Room Manager to join our leadership team, overseeing our established Design Development team. This position is responsible for managing the timelines of each range developed in the business. Overseeing the development of garments and accessories for each collection from the inception of new silhouettes, off shore production of samples and preparation of technical packs for handover to the Production team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Leading a talented team of Patternmakers, Garment Technicians and Product Developers, ensuring deadlines are met aligned to the critical path
• Work closely with the Design Director to develop off-shore SMS for each collection
• Lead fittings and prepare tech packs with all relevant technical information together with the design team
• Develop new shapes, comment and approve all development samples
• Approve bulk production
• Analyse weekly sell-through, return rates, end-of-season sales data and customer comments to understand customer behaviour, reduce return rates and implement new ideas
• Work alongside our Production team to ensure physical testing is completed on all garments and quality management is maintained
• Maintain a clear critical path for the Design team to ensure the company timeline is being adhered to
• Provide alternative sustainable fabric options where possible
• Oversee the workflow of Patternmakers through product development alongside the Production Manager
• Manage factory allocation
• Manage cutting and machinists through the development stage of each range and ensure SMS are delivered as per the critical path
• Research new fabric suppliers and order pilot rolls
• Negotiate costing and work out margins

To be successful you will need:

• Great knowledge of garment technology
• Minimum 5 years experience in production development or production working for a similar premium brand
• Extensive experience in developing garments from sketches
• Experience in fabrics, print techniques, washings, treatments and dying methods
• Excellent skills in pattern construction, leading fitting sessions and writing clear communications
• Ability to work against tight deadlines and prioritise accordingly
• Sharp eye and profound industry knowledge, along with the ability to recognise new trends
• Natural problem solver, great communicator and team player
• Strong business acumen and solid experience in negotiations with suppliers
