Your Role
Design Room Assistant— you will work closely with all Design team members to support the designer throughout the creative process, following concepts through to a handover-ready state for offshore teams.
You will help ensure the product is developed in line with the designer's vision and direction.
This role is based at our Sydney Head Office on the Northern Beaches, reporting to the Design Room Manager and collaborating with the Designer.
This is a full-time position.
You are expected to uphold POSSE's core values relating to ethics, integrity, and responsible behaviour.
Location and Structure
Location: Mascot, New South Wales, Australia (head office reference in job description).
Reports to: Design Room Manager.
Employment type: Full-time.
Outlines of Duties
Below is an overview of day-to-day duties and department ownership.
You may be required to take on additional responsibilities as one-off projects or unusual circumstances arise.
Work closely with the Designer to coordinate fabric and trim sourcing.
Manage all trim and fabric inventory within the design and production room.
Review and file all lab dips and strike-offs with Design and Production; liaise with suppliers to ensure comments are communicated and executed.
Work with suppliers to ensure samples and deliveries are on schedule.
Ensure sample packs are sent efficiently to meet deadlines.
Create barcodes for offshore suppliers.
Creation of all style codes.
Sample room management and handover of collection assets to wider POSSE teams.
QC check all SMS on receipt and assist with showroom setup for seasonal Range Review meetings.
Prepare all garments for fittings.
Maintain admin for design and development, tracking all development samples and design CP and visual boards.
Create detailed tech packs with accurate garment specifications.
Receipt in DHL parcels and prepare/send packages to offshore suppliers.
Prioritize planning to meet changing business needs.
Attend weekly design WIP meetings.
Assist on Look-book photoshoots and campaigns when needed; assist with look book creation when required.
Assist with design sketches, coloured CADS, mood boards, and range board creations.
Perform ad-hoc errands related to collection development and keep the design room neat and tidy.
Indicative Requirements
Completion of a Fashion Certificate IV, diploma, or degree demonstrating dedication to the craft.
Proficiency in CAD sketching to visually bring designs to life.
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office for efficient communication and organisation.
Photoshop skills (ideal but not essential) to enhance design work.
Deep understanding of fabrics and prints to inform design decisions.
Technical garment construction skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work autonomously and be highly organised in a design environment.
