Overview

The Australian Childhood Foundation is seeking a proactive and people-focused Human Resources Advisor to join on a 6-month contract, working Tuesday to Friday (3.5 to 4 days per week, negotiable) in a hybrid capacity—Tuesdays in the office with flexibility across the rest of the week. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, this role contributes across the organisation by providing HR advice and support to leaders and staff, helping shape a positive workplace culture, and supporting major HR projects.

You will assist with recruitment and onboarding, craft position descriptions, join interview panels, welcome new hires, support safety and wellbeing, ensure compliance, and assist staff through EAP. You will also maintain systems and deliver insightful reporting while championing our values, HR Brand, and a child-safe, purpose-driven culture.

The Australian Childhood Foundation is a leading not-for-profit organisation that supports children and young people to recover from abuse, neglect, and family violence through specialist therapeutic services, advocacy, and education programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide thoughtful HR advice and support to leaders and staff.
  • Coordinate performance reviews and energise workshops.
  • Manage recruitment and onboarding processes: craft position descriptions, join interview panels, and welcome new hires.
  • Support Safety and wellbeing of employees, monitor reports, ensure organisational compliance, and support staff through EAP.
  • Maintain HR systems, generate reporting, and provide data-driven insights.
  • Uphold the organisation's values and contribute to a child-safe, trauma-informed culture.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Degree qualification in HR Management.
  • Minimum 4 years generalist HR experience, including at least 1 year as an HR Advisor.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
  • Experience in WHS legislation and implementation.
  • Proven ability to engage across all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop HR policies, processes, and systems.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a learning culture.
  • Current Victorian driver's licence and Working with Children Check.
  • Personal values aligned with the Foundation's mission.
