
Assessment and Transition Coordinator

Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria is hiring for the Assessment and Transition Coordinator role at Beechworth Correctional Centre. This is an ongoing, full-time position within Corrections Victoria, part of the Victorian Public Service.
About The RoleAs the Assessment and Transition Coordinator, you will utilise your Programs Co-ordination expertise to provide support and advice to Corrections Victoria at Beechworth Correctional Centre.
- Participate in the development, coordination and delivery of prisoner risk assessment, parole application and pre-release services within a prison location
- Undertake prisoner risk assessments and needs assessments, coordinate prisoners' applications for parole and contribute to the Case Management Review process
- Support the delivery of the CV Reintegration Program at the prison location
Corrections Victoria is a business unit of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). Corrections Victoria's vision is "Safer prisons, safer people, safer communities". The Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility focused on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration into society. It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.
About YouAs our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated understanding of transition and reintegration issues and needs of prisoners
- Demonstrated ability to administer risk assessment tools with individual prisoners
- Demonstrated capacity or aptitude to work with clients who are difficult to engage individually and in group work settings
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a prison setting
- Experience in and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment
