Technical Sales Specialist, Single-Cell Solutions

We are looking for a Technical Sales Specialist to join our Lifesciences team and drive new business growth with the BD Rhapsody Single-Cell Product portfolio across ANZ. The role covers key accounts across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) with responsibility for face-to-face selling, building strong relationships with key customers, education, technical support, and attendance at trade displays.

The role of the Single-Cell Multiomics Technical Sales Specialist is to drive new business opportunities for the BD Rhapsody Single Cell Multiomics product portfolio to meet annual sales budget and profit margin targets. This person will also demonstrate self-learning and stay abreast of current trends in the related research field. The role requires strong commercial acumen, teamwork, and a flexible approach to satisfying customer needs. This position can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead sales activities for the BD Rhapsody Single-Cell Multiomics (scM) platform across ANZ.
  • Achieve revenue and gross profit targets within key accounts, contributing to the overall BDB business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a robust short- and long-term pipeline to consistently generate new opportunities and profitable revenue.
  • Understand the primary scientific objectives and scM needs of key accounts.
  • Develop and execute tailored customer strategies to capture new opportunities and expand BD's footprint.
  • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to build strong relationships across all levels of customer organizations.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and trends within the scM space.
  • Gather and communicate relevant market intelligence to support the development of targeted marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Help position BD's technology and value proposition to effectively differentiate from competitors.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Applications teams to drive sales and profit growth.
  • Align internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of commercial strategies.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Inventory Control, Finance, Regulatory, and other internal teams to support customer success.
  • Foster positive working relationships with key external stakeholders including major suppliers, customers, partners, industry associations, and government representatives.
  • Represent BD professionally in industry forums, conferences, and customer engagements.
Knowledge And Experience
  • Completed tertiary education, BSc or equivalent in life sciences.
  • Excellent product knowledge of, and expertise relating to solutions provided through the BD Biosciences portfolio including reagents and instrumentation.
  • Genomics or Molecular Biology lab experience would be advantageous.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within larger teams to drive outstanding results for customers using the BD Rhapsody single-cell system.
  • Demonstrated sales experience across a range of portfolios including laboratory consumables and capital equipment sales would be preferable.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience preferably in Immunology, Genomics, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology.
  • Proven business acumen and sales capability.
  • Resilient and proactive.
  • Strong attention to detail.

The position requires significant direct interaction with existing and potential customers and carries an expectation of 70% travel.
