Overview

The Australian National University is seeking a Nano Phase Specialist to join the Geochemical Instrument Operations Team within the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES).

Classification: ANU Officer 6/7 (Specialist)

Salary package: $95,987 - $110,489 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Term: Full-time, Continuing

The Position

This is a key role for a skilled instrumentalist to manage the ANU NanoPhase Facility within the Research School of Earth Sciences. The successful candidate will provide high-level support to laboratory operations, technical and research operations, and a collection of state-of-the-art instrumentation including a Molecular Vista VistaScope infrared photo-induced force microscope, Horiba LabRAM Soleil Raman FTIR spectroscope, Olympus Vanta M portable x-ray fluorescence spectrometer and Malvern Panalytical Aeris benchtop XRD.

The position is based in the Geochemical Instrument Operations Team within RSES. RSES is Australia's leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences. We operate iconic and state-of-the-art instrumentation supported by highly trained professional staff, offering an unrivalled world-class research environment.

The Person

We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key. Skills and qualifications in earth sciences, chemistry, physics, and/or engineering would be desirable, as well as a desire to contribute to world-class research through research support and method development.
