Band 8 - Starting from $122,746.59 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week only)

Responsibilities
  • Opportunity to lead important and impactful projects for children, young people, and their families in Yarra
  • Hybrid/flexible working arrangements and an emphasis on work/life balance
  • Work in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • The role coordinates, leads and implements a range of strategic projects that drive continuous improvement and integrated service delivery in response to changes in community need, policy, legislative and funding reform
  • Oversees and coordinates the branch administration team
  • Works closely with the branch leadership team and Manager to ensure timely, informed decisions by the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors
About the Branch

Yarra City Council's Family, Youth and Children's Services Branch is an innovative team that supports and improves the lives and outcomes of children, families and young people. The branch plans for, advocates, and partners with others to provide integrated services from birth to 25 years.

The branch has five service units:

  • Children's Services provides and strategically plans for early childhood and education and care services
  • Connie Benn Centre is an integrated family and children's hub
  • Family Services includes Maternal and Child Health, immunisation, Integrated Family Services, and playgroups
  • Service Planning and Development leads policy, research, evaluation, strategic service planning and projects
  • Youth and Middle Years Services partners with young people to provide programs and advocacy

The branch also supports Council's Families and Children's Advisory Committee, local toy libraries, and the Fitzroy Adventure Playground.

Requirements and Qualifications

The successful applicant will be a strong communicator, politically astute, capable of leading and managing complex projects with a wide range of stakeholders, and a strategic thinker.
