Overview

The Flagstaff Group is seeking a dedicated Payroll & Finance Officer to join our head office in Illawarra. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and teamwork.   • Salary: $72,000 – $77,000 per year (based on skills and experience)
  • Location: Unanderra, NSW
  • Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing (Employment Hero, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, superannuation, and leave entitlements
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and strong numerical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with digital payroll systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Finance, HR, and other divisions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data responsibly
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a focus on internal support
Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management: Process fortnightly payroll accurately for up to 440 staff and employees with disabilities, and ensuring compliance with legislation across two major Awards
  • Employee Records: Maintain up-to-date employee data, leave balances, and superannuation records
  • Reporting: Generate payroll and finance reports for management and compliance purposes
  • Employee Support: Respond to payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Compliance: Ensure all payroll activities align with legislation, awards, and company policies
  • Finance Support: Assist with accounts receivable, customer debt recovery, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • System Improvements: Contribute to the enhancement of payroll systems and internal controls
