Ability Action Australia's south west Sydney team is looking for an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner who has current suitability at the Proficient or Advanced level, as confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning.
  2. Evaluating, developing, and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space.
  3. Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies as per the positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community.
  4. Ensuring individual plans reflect participants' goals, passions, and strengths.
  5. Building the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc.
  6. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners.

About you

  1. Considerable experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner for a registered NDIS provider OR have obtained suitability at the Proficient or Advanced level via the self-assessment application pathway with the NDIS Commission.
  2. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  3. Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  4. Genuine passion for working in the disability sector and mentoring less experienced practitioners.
  5. Solution-focused, proactive attitude, and motivated by improvement and testing new ideas.
  6. Looking for a fun, collaborative, and supportive work environment.
  7. Current suitability - confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - at the Proficient or Advanced level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
  8. Completion of a degree-level qualification in an allied health discipline would be an advantage but is not essential.
