About The Department

The Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management is a multidisciplinary pain service offering assessment and treatment for persistent pain. It includes medical and allied health staff working as an integrated team. BWCPM is part of the Health Independence Programs at SVHM.

About The Role

Join a well-established administration team, providing a full range of administrative support to the BWCPM department in line with SVHM policies and values. The classification for this position is HS2 (66,768.00 per annum, pro rata).

Duties
  • Meet and greet patients attending BWCPM
  • Provide an efficient and organised reception area
  • Enter required data into multiple data management systems
  • Medicare billing and reconciliation
  • Management of waiting list and appointment bookings
  • Report to the Administration Team Leader
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
  • Year 12 or equivalent numeracy and literacy
  • Experience in reception/administration in a busy environment
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Professional telephone manner and empathy for patient care
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with ability to multi-task
  • Prior healthcare administration experience desirable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and Medicare billing desirable

Additional Context

The Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management is a multidisciplinary service with a wide range of clinical experiences and ongoing training opportunities. BWCPM is part of the HIP suites of services and collaborates with SVHA and NRCH. Some duties may require work at multiple HIP hub sites as directed by the HIP manager.

Health and Safety
  • Attend general hospital orientation within 3 months of commencement
  • Protect health and safety of self and others; comply with all safety policies
  • Report incidents, complete Fire and Emergency Training annually, and complete Workplace Culture and Equity Training annually

Selection Criteria
  • 5.1 Essential Registration, License Or Qualification Requirements: Year 12 or equivalent
  • 5.2 Other Essential Requirements: advanced administrative support, MS Office proficiency, strong communication, healthcare reception experience, medical terminology knowledge, public health billing familiarity, autonomous and team work capability, strong planning and organisational skills, commitment to SVHA values
  • 5.3 Other Non-essential Requirements: administrative training at certificate/diploma level, qualifications in medical terminology or typing
