Commercial Finance Manager

The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for business partnering and driving strategic and financial outcomes for their respective business lines and state operations.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Drive strategic and P&L performance for the state operations through partnering with leadership teams, state managers, operational and financial stakeholders
• Build an advanced analytical decision support capability to support both strategic and tactical decisions
• Partner in solving Motion's business challenges through effective problem-solving, identifying opportunities and translating recommendations into execution plans
• Building and owning the planning and forecasting framework (monthly, quarterly and annual) across the state and business lines and highlighting the impacts from headwinds and tailwinds
• Gather information to provide accurate business performance updates and develop recommendations to overcome market and business volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity
• Continuously evaluate opportunities for enhancement of systems (PowerBI, TM1, Phocas) and process capabilities to maximise effectiveness and ensure seamless accurate reporting rhythm
• Manage ongoing analytics requirements for Leadership teams, General Manager Finance and Head of Commercial Finance in
  • Developing business cases for capital and operational investments
  • Portfolio and network optimization across the states
  • Long range planning and expansion opportunities for the respective state / business line operations
  • Benefits / initiative tracking and pipeline reporting
• Partner with leadership and M&A team to execute transactions and manage post integration of the acquired businesses
• Build strong network with the sales and operational teams, empower and improve financial capability among non-finance members to drive ownership
• Coaching and supporting the wider commercial and Finance team

About you:

• CPA and CA membership
• Commercial / Analytical background – experience handling and analysing complex, high volume data with great attention to detail
• Seasoned Commercial professional, with analytical, budgeting and forecasting experience
• Proven track record in managing full P&L and building and maintaining financial models
• Proven modelling skills, excellent Excel user, experience with other systems such as PowerBI, TM1, etc, would be beneficial
• Be able to distil information in a creative and visual manner so that it is digestible to both finance and non-finance partners
• Self-motivated, results oriented with the ability to perform under pressure in a changing business environment with the willingness to get their hands dirty
• Proven modelling skills, excellent Excel user, experience with other systems such as PowerBI, TM1, etc, would be beneficial
• Effectively communicates complex ideas by engaging in high-level strategic discussions while seamlessly transitioning to detailed technical or operational aspects as needed.
• Capable of communicating effectively with diverse audiences, from warehouse personnel to executive leadership, adapting style and content accordingly.
• Demonstrates the ability to analyse, interpret, and make informed decisions despite incomplete or ambiguous data, ensuring progress and solutions in uncertain situations.
