The position of Scientist, Fish Ecology will have a focus on river and wetland ecology and conservation, and will contribute to the delivery of quality research undertaken at the Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research (ARI).

The Scientist, Fish Ecology role requires experience in contributing to fish and fish-habitat monitoring, evaluation and reporting. The role requires field work, four-wheel driving, hiking, conducting fish surveys, data management and report writing.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Essential
- A science degree and work experience with a focus on fish ecology.
- A high level of competency in freshwater and estuarine fish identification and survey techniques.
- Ability to participate in, support and, under supervision, plan and manage conservation and ecology surveys and projects in the field and office, and to contribute to multi-disciplinary research teams.
- Ability to contribute to advice, reports, scientific articles, conference presentations, and other communication outputs.
- A postgraduate qualification in science or natural resource management with a focus on fish ecology.
- Knowledge of riverine, estuarine and wetland ecosystems, their biota, and their conservation management.
- Experience in entry, quality control and basic statistical analysis of data from field surveys, including use of GIS.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months. The work location for this position is Heidelberg with hybrid work arrangements available.
