Overview

Join to apply for the Data Solution Specialist role at IAG. This permanent role sits in the Data Capability & Stewardship team and focuses on shaping how data drives decision-making across the organisation. You will design and deliver scalable data solutions that improve data utilisation, build fit-for-purpose data models using SQL and DBT, support analytics and reporting needs, and uplift data capability across the team.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work model. We welcome applicants from Gadigal Country (Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) and Meanjin (Brisbane).

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to gather and refine data requirements, ensuring solutions are aligned with operational and analytical needs.
  • Design scalable data models using SQL and DBT to support analytics and day-to-day operations.
  • Create user stories and contribute to the agile delivery of data products that drive business value.
  • Conduct data analysis using AI and automation to uncover actionable insights.
  • Ensure data quality and governance while continuously improving data solutions to meet evolving business needs.
  • Translate Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) business drivers into measurable data outcomes that deliver value.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years' experience in data analysis or solution delivery, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights and fit-for-purpose data solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and DBT, with hands-on experience using BigQuery and Cloud Composer for data modelling, transformation, and workflow orchestration.
  • Skilled in performing complex data analysis, including the use of AI techniques to uncover insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, with the ability to clearly communicate findings to business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with IAG-standard tools including Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Collibra, and Monte Carlo, with a strong commitment to data governance and quality.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies to validate data solutions and ensure reliability.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to align data solutions with Intermediated insurance business drivers to deliver measurable value.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a track record of building collaborative relationships across business and technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Analytics, Information Systems, or a relevant Insurance domain; or equivalent industry experience.
