The Melbourne United Basketball Academy (MUBA) is a premier junior pathway program, nurturing athletes from under-12s to under-18s. Under the guidance of Melbourne United's expert coaching staff, participants develop fundamentals—such as ball handling, shooting technique, decision-making, individual offence and defense—within a high-energy, competitive, and values-driven environment. The Academy comprises the Development, Performance, and Elite Programs, designed to prepare players for elite competition and potential NBL opportunities.

Position Overview

Casual Academy Coaches support the delivery of MUBA training sessions in line with Melbourne United's coaching philosophy and technical programmes. You\'ll help deliver skill development and competitive sessions that embody the "United way"—a blend of selflessness, hard work, attention to detail, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality coaching sessions focused on core fundamentals: ball handling, shooting, passing, lay-up finishing, offence, defence and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate and articulate Melbourne United's offensive and defensive systems and playing concepts.
  • Facilitate small-sided games and gameplay that mirror NBL-style principles.
  • Provide constructive feedback to athletes and maintain a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment aligned with the club's values.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience coaching at VJBL (Victorian Junior Basketball League) level or higher.
  • Current Working with Children's Check (Employee)
  • Must be available mornings – location pending selected hub. Times and locations found here.
