Hazel Glen College, is located in the City of Whittlesea, one of Melbourne's fastest growing municipalities in the outer Northern Western Region. We are seeking a Basketball Coach / AFL Coach and Netball Coach commencing in 2026 with playing and coaching experience at the highest level preferable.
Academy Background:
The Hazel Glen Athlete Development Academy has been established to identify and develop highly talented and emerging student athletes within their focus sport. The Academy's holistic approach aims to enhance, develop, and prepare the whole athlete for pathways into an elite setting by supporting them to balance their academics and sporting endeavours. Students are committed to uphold the expectations of the Academy and the College values which are outlined in their signed Student Agreement Contract.
Position Information:
Hazel Glen College is seeking expressions of interest for a Basketball Coach / AFL Coach and Netball Coach to develop our Academy Students from Years 7-10. This role requires someone who has experience of playing or coaching at a high level in Basketball / AFL / Netball. Currently the two coaching sessions run every Tuesday, Wednesday and / or Thursday morning from 7:30am–8:30am. The two sessions are split amongst our bottom-age group (Year 7+8) and our top-age group (Year Coaches are encouraged to organise an incursion for the students to enhance their learning and attend an annual Academy tournament where our students play against neighbouring school's academies.
The position is a 2-year commitment with a formal review taking place after two consecutive years.
Desirable criteria:
Hazel Glen College is currently seeking an applicant with:
● Current/Previous playing and/or coaching at an elite/highest level (outline in application)
● Coaching Accreditations
● Available to work on mornings before school hours.
● A thorough understanding of gaming rules for applied sport.
● Excellent communications skills, both oral and written with young athletes.
● Ability to break down and explicitly teach both individual and team skills, knowledge, and implementation of a strong game plan.

Payment/Sessions:This is a paid role and numeration will be negotiated for the right candidate. Payment is given per session coached. Every term the morning coaching sessions resume in week 2.
Other:
Successful candidates will be required to complete induction modules as well as provide their Working With Childrens Check Card (Employee not Volunteer). Must also hold current First Aid & CPR qualifications.
