Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Fort Mill, South Carolina office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment, though candidates must reside within a commutable distance as in-office presence will be required multiple times per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations, including:
    • One-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, station physical layouts, sections/elevations, cable and conduit plans and details, ground grid design, foundation plans, structural plans, control enclosure design, lightning protection, yard lighting, bills of materials, and site visits.
  • Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.
  • Occasional travel.

Required Education/Experience:

  • BSEE or BSEET degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience:

  • 3+ months relevant electrical engineering work experience, including internships or co-ops.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate or passed the FE exam.
