Clinical Nurse Consultant - Oncology Coordinator

Are you an experienced nursing professional with a passion for oncology care? The Western Australian Country Health Service is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide expert clinical guidance and leadership within our Oncology Coordination team. In this vital role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality cancer care while promoting best practices and supporting both patients and healthcare professionals in the community.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary ward service, collaborating with all interdisciplinary teams within the region.
  • Provide advanced clinical leadership to medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in cancer care.
  • Initiate and evaluate research to establish and promote clinical best practices in oncology.
  • Develop, implement, and promote evidence-based standards and policies compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of staff to build a strong oncology team.
  • Manage quality improvement activities and provide clinical statistics and reports as required.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Extensive clinical/professional knowledge in oncology specialty
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Sound understanding of human resource principles
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and patient safety principles
  • Eligibility for a current C or C-A Class Drivers licence
  • Progress towards a postgraduate qualification in oncology is desirable

The following services are provided in the Goldfields by both locally based and visiting specialists:

  • Kalgoorlie: Level 4 Outreach Medical Oncology Service
  • Kalgoorlie: Level 4 Chemotherapy Unit
  • Kalgoorlie: Level 3 Haematology Service
  • Kalgoorlie: Tele-oncology Service
  • Esperance: Level 3 Outreach Medical Oncology Service
  • Esperance: Level 3 Chemotherapy Unit
  • Esperance: Tele-oncology Service
Other Information

This position is located at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus. Kalgoorlie is Australia's largest Outback city where mining, history and bushland combine, located 595 km east-northeast of Perth.

Country Nursing And Midwifery Incentive Program is available to eligible nurses and midwives across patient-facing roles on fixed term or permanent contracts. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. Please refer to the WA Country Health Service - Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program website for eligibility criteria.
