Our Client

Joblin Partners is proud to be representing a highly respected and well-established Australian resources company. With a reputation for operational stability and a strong growth outlook, this organisation is entering a pivotal transformation phase across its corporate functions - with payroll now a key strategic focus.

Due to upcoming structural changes and a broader reform agenda, the business is seeking a technically strong and experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll delivery, compliance, and uplift within its Brisbane-based corporate team.

About the Role

Reporting into senior corporate leadership, the Payroll Manager will own end-to-end payroll operations across ~1,300 employees, spanning multiple Enterprise Agreements, rosters, and pay cycles.

You'll oversee a small but experienced payroll team, drive improvements in system functionality and process integrity, and play an influential role in a major payroll technology upgrade commencing in the new year.

This is a hands-on role suited to a candidate who thrives in complexity, takes ownership, and can step confidently into a change agent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all payroll operations across corporate and site-based employees,
  • Manage and mentor a small payroll team, embedding accountability and structure,
  • Ensure compliance with multiple enterprise agreements, awards, and legislation,
  • Engage in system transformation, vendor selection, testing and implementation,
  • Identify and reduce manual inputs through automation and process redesign,
  • Collaborate across Finance, HR and operations to ensure accurate and timely outcomes,
  • Provide input into audit, risk, and governance reviews relevant to payroll,
  • Represent payroll in strategic projects and senior stakeholder forums.
About You
  • Proven experience in payroll leadership across multi-site or industrial operations,
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards, and legislative compliance,
  • Technically strong with deep hands-on capability across payroll systems,
  • Confident leading a diverse team and engaging across senior finance and HR stakeholders,
  • Exposure to payroll system upgrades or RFP processes is highly desirable,
  • Sector experience in mining, construction, energy or agriculture will be highly regarded.
Why Apply?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a corporate leadership role in payroll with genuine influence. You'll work directly with senior decision-makers, shape system reform, and lead a highly capable team during a meaningful period of change.

You'll be joining an organisation that values structure, accountability, and innovation - and you'll play a critical part in setting the standard for payroll excellence moving forward.

Remuneration & Benefits

Generous health and medical cover including $5K Medibank subsidy and $10K Medical Plus cover. Flexible work: 1–2 WFH days depending on pay cycle requirements. Brisbane Corporate Office position with occasional site visits as required.
