The role supports research studies conducted within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at St George Hospital in SESLHD. The Research Assistant/Officer will provide operational, technical, and administrative support to research studies. Responsibilities include ethics applications, data collection and entry, study coordination, stakeholder engagement, and raising invoices and grant monitoring to ensure seamless trial revenue. The position contributes to the quality and integrity of health and medical research and ensures compliance with governance and funding requirements.

Our ideal candidate has a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification and is proficient in the REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) database software.

Responsibilities

Provide operational, technical, and administrative support for research studies in the department. activities include ethics applications, data collection and entry, study coordination, stakeholder engagement, invoicing, and grant monitoring to ensure smooth revenue flow. Ensure governance and funding compliance.

Selection Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, medical science, social science, public health, or a related discipline; or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience
  • Knowledge of health and medical research processes, including ethics and governance submissions, participant recruitment, and data collection
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to perform management and administrative tasks within allocated timeframes
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare research documentation, reports, newsletters, NHMRC reports, governance applications, and study materials
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet current and emerging business needs
  • Current driver's licence with willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to determine priorities for others and delegate tasks to achieve objectives
