Workdays: On campus - Monday; Flexible hours for the rest of the week

Organisation: National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (NCEIDH) – UNSW Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney.

The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is a national initiative dedicated to improving the health of people with intellectual disability, advancing healthcare, and supporting equitable access to quality health services. The Centre collaborates with leading experts, resources, and research to inform best practice and drive innovation.

Role overview
The Research Officer will support NCEIDH's multidisciplinary research in palliative health care for people with intellectual disability, in collaboration with the South-Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). The role provides research and technical assistance across all stages of the project, including study design, data management and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and preparation of reports, publications, and ethics applications. The role also supports inclusive research practices and high standards of research integrity and collaboration throughout the project.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research and technical assistance across all project stages: study design, data management, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
  • Contribute to inclusive research practices and meaningful involvement of people with intellectual disability.
  • Assist with ethics applications, and preparation of reports and publications.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A university degree in health, medicine, or a related discipline, or equivalent knowledge through education, training, or experience.
  • Experience with or knowledge of codesign and inclusive research principles.
  • Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and project planning with milestone reporting.
  • Experience with computer systems and applications (Nvivo, SPSS, Microsoft Office, EndNote).
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage changing priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when needed, with initiative and accountability.
  • Understanding of UNSW's aims, objectives, values, and relevant policies; commitment to health and safety training.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
