About The Role
This position works to assist the In-House Counsel, as directed, in a range of areas of legal services. The role will also be required to provide advice on legislation relevant to Council, and general legal advice applicable to the operations of local government.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring general practice legal experience, along with a strong foundation in legal research and the ability to draft clear, well-reasoned legal opinions. They will possess sound written communication skills and be confident preparing technical legal documents and reports. A working knowledge of Court procedures and the ability to appear in the Magistrates Court is essential. Experience or a willingness to develop expertise in local government, planning and development, property, and criminal law is highly desirable. Strong advocacy and analytical skills will round out this candidate's profile, enabling them to contribute effectively to a dynamic legal team and deliver high-quality legal services across a diverse range of matters.
