Overview

Senior Track and Civil Engineer - Rail (265169). Provide support as a subject matter expert (SME) in railway track and civil engineering for UGL Regional Linx (UGLRL) with responsibilities including technical advice, scope content, investigations and assurance activities for operations and maintenance of the Country Regional Network (CRN), and review of designs and key track-related systems such as Welded Track Stability Analysis (WTSA).

Responsibilities
  • Provide track and civil technical advice to maintenance, projects, design and asset management functions within the business.
  • Review designs for track and civil infrastructure from internal and external parties, including routine MPM works, enhancements and third party works.
  • Lead technical investigations into root causes of incidents involving track or civil infrastructure, and provide expert input into investigations led by others.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term renewal and maintenance plans in areas such as rerailing, rail grinding, track resurfacing, turnout works, level crossing works and ballast cleaning.
  • Provide engineering input to assets teams to develop, update and maintain asset strategies for CRN assets.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating standards, manuals, specifications, technical notes and waivers within their discipline to ensure safety and fitness for purpose.
  • Assist the Principal Track and Corridor Engineer in harmonising Engineering Standards and Codes managed by TfNSW and implementing changes required by the business.
  • Facilitate Welded Track Stability analysis by maintaining the WTSA system and providing technical support to the Infrastructure team.
  • Assist the Principal Track and Corridor Engineer in reviewing Third Party Works applications and Development Applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of practice in track, permanent way or rail geotechnical roles, ideally including a mix of project delivery, maintenance, design and asset management.
  • Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specifications, standards and implications for project accountabilities.
