In this dynamic role, you will take charge of property leasing, facilities management, and fleet services for the Aboriginal Legal Service. Your key mission will be to drive efficiency and foster significant business improvements. By championing the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best practices, you will ensure that our operations are not only safe and sustainable but also focused on delivering exceptional results for our clients and the community.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead a small fleet management team and can expect to travel regularly to Aboriginal Legal Service office locations in NSW & ACT.
Each day, you can expect to:
- Plan, develop, and manage the acquisition and disposal of leased assets, whilst also overseeing leases and occupancy agreements.
- Manage operational leasing to ensure timely rent and utility payments, as well as tracking outgoings and tenancy data.
- Implement and monitor facilities management for the organisation's workplaces, adhering to sustainability strategies and legal requirements.
- Direct property projects for refurbishments, establishing or restoring tenancies, and supporting sustainability initiatives focused on customers.
- Build relationships and strategies to optimise assets and properties, working closely with the Executive Team and Senior Leaders, along with regional stakeholders.
- Lead the management of fleet services, encouraging the use of new technology and data-driven decisions for a safe and sustainable fleet.
- Oversee the procurement of contractors and consultants, ensuring that work meets departmental standards and complies with laws.
You are a highly skilled and motivated individual with a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Your recent professional experience should demonstrate capability in the following areas:
- Extensive practical experience of facilities & property best practice approaches.
- Proven skills in managing building leases and service contracts, also negotiating favourable contract terms.
- Advanced familiarity with building and occupancy regulations in NSW, ACT and federally.
- Extensive experience in building maintenance and managing contractors to achieve high-quality results within budget and timelines.
- Proven track record in achieving compliant and appropriate workplace health and safety outcomes.
- Expertise in developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Exceptional customer service skills, able to foster strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail, displaying self-motivation and proactivity.
- Capable of working independently in a multi-office environment, consistently meeting deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to travel to ALS offices regionally and interstate on a regular basis.
